Glen's workshop is a well-equipped modern workshop located in Wakefield, beside his home.
His philosophy of work is based in the Arts and Crafts ideals of Thomas Morris and others, where the location and environment of the workspace is integral to the production of quality work.
Although the workshop is fully equipped with modern machinery, Glen uses hand tools and traditional methods whenever they are needed.
There is no compromise in quality and aesthetics. He uses true mortise and tenon joinery, as well as hand-cut dovetails.
Glen uses a variety of finishes, ranging from hand-rubbed oil finishes to varnish and laquer. Care is given to the finish, as this last step is important in bringing out the best in the wood and the furniture.
As colour, grain, and figure of the wood is important in the design and construction of the furniture, careful selection of lumber for each piece is made.
As much as possible Glen selects lumber from single logs and trees, often from trees that have been sawn, dried, and prepared at the workshop. Careful selection of lumber results in a repose and unity the furniture.
Customers can order from his present inventory of pieces, commission a made-to-order piece of his design, or work with him to design a piece to suit the specific needs of the customer.
